Why Truffles?
Chocolate is not an easy medium to work with. It is temperamental and is easily affected by moisture and temperature. That being said, I love a challenge! Truffles are a very versatile presentation, in terms of chocolate products. There are an infinite number of variations and combinations that can be produced using the same base. They are small in size (compared to say a candy bar) so people who are watching their sugar intake or calories can indulge their chocolate craving while not going overboard. Truffles pack a huge flavor punch. And what we love more than anything is flavor!

Where is your store front?
The chocolaterie is currently an online shop, but you can also find HTC chocolates around Homer, and other parts of Alaska, at resorts, B&B's, and other retailers. Click here to see where. In addition, you can shop all products in the online CHOCOLATERIE, and get flat-rate nationwide shipping.

Does your online shop show everything you have to offer?
The Chocolaterie showcases and makes available many products I currently have. As new creations become available, they will be added to the site. You can also follow the creative process on Facebook and Instagram.

Do you guarantee your truffles will get to me safely?
Being separated from the continental U.S. creates a challenge for shipping out of Alaska. Truffles are extremely delicate and can damage easily, especially when traveling to warmer areas (over 70 degrees). However, I cannot guarantee your chocolate if it is exposed to prolonged extreme heat (100+).
HTC does guarantee that your truffles and other confections are of superior quality and condition when they leave the Chocolaterie, and are shipped. I take every effort to make sure your chocolates arrive to you intact.

I have a special occasion/event. Can I place an order for something unique?
Yes! I would love to be a part of that special time in your life, and can create confections exclusively yours (ex. truffles created to match your themed wedding). Call toll free at 1-833-TRUFFLS (878-3357), then option 3, or email me confectionary@homertruffle.co so we can discuss your order, and discounted pricing.

I signed up to receive your newsletter. Why am I unable to "sign in" to do some shopping?
First, thank you for signing up for our Chocolover membership. Be on the lookout for exclusive deals. This, however, is separate from a HTC account. When you complete your first purchase, you will have the ability to create an account. You will be able to view your past orders and save payment and shipping information for a speedier checkout.

I have seen a lot of products with Alaska stuff on it, but they weren't made in Alaska and/or the company isn't from Alaska. How do I know you and your products are really Alaskan made?
Great question. Alaska offers a great program called "Made in Alaska" that ensures Alaskan authenticity. Products have to be made in, and most of the material must come from, Alaska. Those products come with a sticker or label verifying real Alaskan made products. So, look for the label.

With all the talk about fair trade and child labor in the world of cacao bean harvesting, what measures do you take to address this issue?
I am very selective of where I source my chocolate, through MUCH research, years of working with chocolate, and communication with the suppliers. I acquire my chocolate Callebaut, who practices sustainable sourcing to protect the local communities, and forests, from where their beans are harvested. For specific information on what steps they are taking, go to Callebaut’s Cocoa Horizon’s Foundation page. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!
